Beginning January 18, applications for secondary specialty programs for UCS high school students will be available online.

Families of all current UCS eighth-grade students can apply for Utica Center for Science and Industry (UCSI), Utica Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology (UCMST), and Utica Academy for International Studies (UAIS).

In addition, eighth grade students attending Heritage, Davis, and Jeannette junior high schools who reside in the attendance boundary for Stevenson High School are also invited to apply for the Stevenson Manufacturing, Automation, and Design Engineering (MADE) Academy.

“Utica Community Schools specialty programs support our continued focus on academic excellence by providing students options that meet their unique talents and interests,” superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said. “The specialty programs are another way we are giving UCS graduates a competitive advantage for the high paying jobs of the future.”

Application materials are due by 3 p.m. Friday, February 15.

According to Board of Education policy, residents of the district and non-resident (Schools of Choice) students currently enrolled in eighth grade are eligible to apply for secondary specialty programs. The district will not accept a new non-resident student beyond grade eight in secondary specialty programs unless all qualified district and existing non-resident (Schools of Choice) applicants have been accepted and there are open seats.

Interested parents are invited to attend a series of informational meetings that will be held in early January.  For more information and timelines, parents and students should visit:
